Over Easy

Updated: Sep 3, 2021

My favorite breakfast place in Kailua, Over Easy, is a popular spot that's worth the drive!

As a Kailua native, I've been lucky to have been born and raised in this sleepy beach town. Kailua has become a must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Oahu in recent years and it shows as the number of restaurants opening in this community continuously grows! In particular, the breakfast and brunch scene is prominent in Kailua.

Kailua has so many breakfast spots to choose from! From Boots and Kimo’s to Cinnamon’s to Moke’s, it’s hard to pick a place for breakfast when you visit Kailua. However, my favorite spot for breakfast has to be Over Easy! Opened in 2016, Over Easy has become a popular spot for locals, always having a long line for breakfast and brunch on weekends. The menu is smaller compared to other places, but the food is excellent! My top two favorites have to be the Brunch Bowl and the Potato N Eggs.

Recommendation #1: Brunch Bowl ($16)

The Brunch Bowl comes with avocado, soft boiled eggs, house made yogurt, spinach, tomato jam, candied bacon, sourdough toast and De La Mesa Farm micro greens. Mix it all together and spread it on the toast to make a yummy breakfast!

Recommendation #2: Potato N Eggs ($16)

The Potato N Eggs are like an Eggs Benedict but with a potato puree instead of a Hollandaise sauce. The potato puree, soft boiled egg, tomato jam, and bacon bits served on top of French bread is big enough to share, but delicious enough that you would want your own all by yourself!

Over Easy has a sister restaurant in Kailua as well called Easy Que, which has tasty barbecue and sandwiches.
